Now I will say - if you keep this sealed, you probably won't lose money as there are collectors for sealed cases. Can you time it perfectly to profit off appreciation before the 1st, 2nd or 3rd+ reprint? Seems very difficult. That outcome is their likely future, or worse if you account that these printings are only available in non-foil today.
#MTG TIMELESS WISDOM FREE#
I see this free spell cycle as no different. With immense supply of 2XM still in the channel, it may hit a new all-time low this year. It now sits at a 5 year low - not seen since it's original printing in Commander 2016. And then like clockwork, the same artwork and frame was reprinted in 2XM, along with a borderless premium variant. But then it recovered as Anthology supply dried up, and hit a new high of $45 in early 2020. It's wack-a-mole for Wizards, and they will win in the long term, every time.Ī great case in point: Commander 2016's Atraxa, Praetors' Voice rose to over $40 from 2016 to 2019 before Anthology Vol II hit, when it fell all the way to low $20s - not quite a new low, but almost. Even if it survives the first reprint, the more it recovers, the more likely it is to get yet another reprint. Any form of reprint will compete for and disrupt existing demand, and if the reprint is similar or identical to the first printing, the effect is doubly so. This was commented on below, but my take:Ī product's value, like a single's value, that is held up and speculated on from a single original printing, is very vulnerable.
